The City of Waterloo is responsible for managing an elaborate portfolio of infrastructure assets that support the delivery of a range of services. Each asset class has well-documented practices for assessing individual asset performances. However, the coordination of infrastructure renewal for roads, sanitary sewer, water distribution and storm sewer collection networks within the municipal right-of-way is becoming increasingly complex. This presentation will focus on how the City has created a Cross Asset Prioritization Tool to integrate the municipal asset renewal programs. The objective is to assist professionals manage the large volume of data associated with the current capital budgeting process and provide a consistent and replicable approach to infrastructure management and long-range planning.
