Harold Weidman started appraising condominiums in 1974 and these assignments over the years included project costing for financing and insurance total loss as well as unit appraisals for financing and litigation purposes. He has also had experience in completing assignments related to Alberta New Home Warranty Program disputes, implementation of the Residential Rehabilitation Assistance Program provided by CMHC and appraisals related to remediation and restoration of properties impacted by marijuana grow operations. Harold has appeared as an expert witness before The Federal Tax Review Board, Court of Queen’s Bench, Alberta Surface Rights Board and before the Calgary Assessment Review Board and Municipal Government Board with regard to condominium reserve fund studies on comprehensive multi-family properties.
He has been involved in insurance arbitration and preparation of appraisal reports related to insurance replacement cost disputes. Harold is a licensed appraiser and has held national senior designations since 1979. Since 2000 he has held the Certified Reserve Fund Planner designation from the Real Estate Institute of Canada.
Most recently he has been asked to participate as a member of the Alberta Services Advisory Committee in 2014 and again in 2018 related to the amendments to the Condominium Act for both Insurance and Reserve Fund Studies. Involvement for him in the construction industry began in 1965. Harold is the president of Reliance Asset Consulting Inc. which specializes in Insurance Appraisals and Reserve Fund Studies.
