Graduated from York University with a B.A. Honours in English and History. Obtained LLB from Osgoode Hall Law School.
Sonja is a litigation lawyer that has focused her law practice to the area of condominium law. Sonja advises condominium boards and owners on their rights and responsibilities under provincial legislation governing condominiums as well as other legislation that affects condominiums such as the Human Rights legislation. She has appeared before various tribunals and many levels of Court. Sonja has also
gained recognition for creativity and tenacity in ground breaking human rights caselaw in the condominium industry. She represents her clients at all levels of court, various Tribunals and in mediation/arbitration proceedings. Sonja also has experience in other areas of law such as employment and estates law.
Sonja is a past director at large of the National Executive Board of the Canadian Condominium Institute (CCI). She is a former President of the CCI Huronia Chapter and currently a director on the CCI Huronia Board of Directors. She is also a former National Council representative for CCI Huronia. Sonja currently co-chairs the Education committee and Events committee at CCI Huronia where she is responsible for organizing educational events and the annual conference. She is also the current chair for the CCI National Leaders’ Forum committee. Sonja has chaired the National Membership committee and has sat on various national committees over the years. Sonja is a frequent speaker at CCI educational events
across the country and has written numerous condo related articles for CCI and industry publications such as Condo Business.
Sonja is also a Vice Chair for the Workplace Safety Insurance Appeals Tribunal
where she hears and adjudicates appeals of worker’s compensation claims.
