8B: Measuring and Reporting on Local Government Service Delivery
Date & Time
Tuesday, May 7, 2019, 4:00 PM - 4:30 PM
Description
The Service Sustainability Assessment Tool (SSAT) is an incredibly simple and effective tool that identifies areas where local government service sustainability may be threatened, and to provide feedback on practices that contribute to service sustainability. The sustainability resource was developed to identify areas within local governments where services are doing well, where the sustainability of service delivery is at risk, and to track progress over time. Areas included in the SSAT are: wastewater; water; drainage and flood protection; transportation; fire protection; parks and recreation; solid waste; and civil facilities. By taking only 15 minutes on an annual basis, communities can independently use this tool to measure current performance and preparedness for the future, identify trends in service delivery sustainability, and easily share their findings with stakeholders. By successfully utilizing the Service Sustainability Assessment Tool, local governments have the potential to significantly improve communications with council and the public.
