New Ontario Asset Management Regulation (O.Reg. 588/17) came into force on January 1st, 2018 providing guidance for the implementation of asset management best practices throughout Ontario’s municipal sector. The City of London developed its first State of Infrastructure Report and Corporate Asset Management (CAM) Plan in 2013 & 2014. The City intends to update the Plan in 2018/2019 to support the upcoming multi-year budget process. The 2018/2019 Asset Management Plan include all directly owned City assets seeking to comply with the O.Reg 588/17 requirements ahead of the proposed regulation timelines. The City addressed the regulation requirements and incorporated them in the new Plan; explaining and justifying the additional/revised assets classes, details, and adjustments it considered necessary. This presentation will highlight how the City adopted the new regulation and shares lessons learned along the Asset Management Plan development journey.
