Within the past year alone, communities across Canada have grabbled with disastrous effects of flooding, including this conference’s host city of Kelowna. As climate change forces a re-evaluation of historical approaches to managing floods, local governments must ensure that their risk management frameworks accurately reflect the risks flooding poses to municipal infrastructure and service delivery. In this interactive workshop, participants will have the opportunity to explore second-order consequences associated with flooding impacts, and work collaboratively to assess the likelihood and consequence severity of these impacts. By capturing the scoring assigned to these impacts, participants will produce a prioritization for intervention by municipal decision-makers.
