Derek grew up on the family farm near Macklin, Saskatchewan and holds a BSc in Agronomy form the University of Saskatchewan and a MSc in Plant Breeding from the University of Alberta. Derek joined NorQuin in 2017, helping to scale acres 3x across western Canada. Since then, he has managed NorQuin’s agronomy program and worked to develop IPM strategies for quinoa production in western Canada. Derek also oversees NorQuin’s advanced yield trial and seed production portfolios, efforting to help bring next generation quinoa varieties bred specifically for western Canada in the near future.
