Closing Session - Update of the Regulations of Condominium Managers: Overview of the Standard of Practice

This session will give an overview of the Standards of Practice rules proposed for condominium managers providing services to condominium corporations.  It will also include the minimum required content for service agreements between condominium management brokerages and condominium corporations.  The Government of Alberta has tasked the Real Estate Council of Alberta (RECA) with being the regulatory body for the regulation of the condominium management industry.

 

The presenter is Doug Dixon, the Real Estate Practice Advisor for RECA.  Doug is also the staff coordinator providing support to the Condominium Manager Implementation Advisory Committee.  Doug has a long history with the condominium industry, including sales, working with developers and condominium managers.  In his 23 years of regulatory experience he has dealt with issues between condominium management companies, between condominium managers and condominium corporations and also condominium managers/corporations and unit owners.

In addition to presenting the Standards of Practice, this presentation will provide background on what has taken place so far towards the regulation of condominium managers as well as the anticipated timeline for licensing to start.  There will be lots of opportunity for participants to ask questions about the Standards of Practice being presented and if time allows, on the other components regarding the licensing and regulation of condominium managers.
